The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for upgrading Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) to a federal institution. The student body described the move as a significant step in advancing Nigeria’s education sector.
NANS National Vice President for Inter-Campus Affairs, Akinbodunse Praise, issued a statement on Sunday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, lauding the president’s commitment to improving higher education.
“This decision reaffirms President Tinubu’s sincere dedication to the education sector. As students in Ogun State, we remember the struggles of 2012 when we fought against the attempted closure of TASUED. Some of our colleagues lost their lives in the process, and we continue to honor them annually on February 14th. Today, their sacrifices have been vindicated,” Praise stated.
He also acknowledged the efforts of Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, and other stakeholders in preserving the institution.
The Federal Government officially confirmed TASUED’s elevation through a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
