KOGI POLICE LAUNCH PROBE INTO ATTACK ON SENATOR AKPOTI-UDUAGHAN’S FAMILY HOUSE

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed that it has opened a formal investigation into an attack on the ancestral family home of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State. The move comes after media reports and a distress call from Yakubu Ovanja, one of the senator’s aides, indicated that armed hoodlums targeted the residence in the early hours of April 16, 2025.
According to the police spokesperson, SP William Ovye Aya, the incident occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. and involved three unidentified assailants armed with cutlasses. The attackers reportedly damaged windows at the front of the building and attempted to force their way inside. However, a man identified as Michael Akpoti, who was inside the house at the time, raised an alarm that caused the intruders to flee.
SP Aya said officers from the Okehi Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, were immediately dispatched to the scene for an on-the-spot investigation. Following the preliminary findings, the state commissioner of police directed the deputy commissioner in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a discrete and thorough probe.
The incident has raised fresh security concerns in Kogi Central, where Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing the district, has frequently faced politically motivated hostility. The police say they are determined to identify and apprehend those responsible.
