TRADERS APPLAUD GOVERNOR UMO ENO AHEAD OF 2025 WORKERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

Market associations and small-scale traders across Akwa Ibom State have praised Governor Umo Eno for his worker-friendly policies and economic support for informal sector actors. In a statement released ahead of the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration, the SSA to the Governor on Market Matters, Akparawa Idorenyin Raphael, conveyed the appreciation of market leaders to the Governor.
He noted that the new minimum wage implementation had not only improved workers’ welfare but also increased the spending power of customers at local markets. “When civil servants earn better, they buy more, and that helps traders stay in business. That’s why we’re grateful to the Governor,” the statement read.
Traders also commended the administration for interventions in market infrastructure, provision of grants, and continued security across trading hubs.
