BENUE GOVERNOR ALIA CLAIMS DESTABILISATION PLOT
In Nigeria’s Middle Belt, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia is sounding an alarm over what he alleges is a coordinated effort by political enemies to incite unrest and remove him from office. Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, on Wednesday May 7th in Makurdi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governor condemned what he described as “engineered demonstrations” and a “malicious misinformation campaign” designed to mislead the public and federal authorities.
Alia accused unnamed opponents of seeking to provoke instability in Benue with the hope of triggering a federal intervention or emergency rule under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “These demonstrations are not the true voice of the people,” Alia said. “They are carefully orchestrated acts of sabotage by those clinging to a failed past.”
