ANAMBRA POLICE RESTRICT MOVEMENT AHEAD OF PRESIDENT TINUBU’S VISIT AMID SECURITY TENSIONS

The Anambra State Police Command has announced a partial restriction of vehicular movement across the state as part of security arrangements for the high-profile visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 8, 2025. The announcement, made by Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga, urged residents to cooperate with security agencies to ensure a smooth and safe presidential visit.
Tinubu is expected to commission key infrastructure projects and engage with political and community stakeholders during the visit, which comes amid a recent surge in violent attacks in the South-East.
The visit is taking place under heightened security due to the volatile situation in parts of Anambra and the broader South-East region. Although the federal government has blamed the proscribed IPOB for much of the unrest, the group has consistently denied any involvement in criminal acts.
In preparation for Tinubu’s arrival, security agencies have ramped up operations, including patrols and targeted raids, in an effort to deter any disruption. The police urged citizens to remain law-abiding and assist in safeguarding the state’s security framework.
