DANGOTE DONATES N15BN TO KANO TECH UNIVERSITY, PROMISES JOBS

Billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote has announced a landmark donation of N15 billion to his alma mater, the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, in Kano State, with plans to transform it into a leading research and innovation hub in West Africa. Speaking during the university’s 5th combined convocation ceremony, Dangote outlined a five-year strategic plan that includes construction of modern student hostels, advanced laboratories, a solar power plant, and a new Senate building.
The donation also includes funding for ICT infrastructure, faculty development, and support for commercialization of student-led innovations. Additionally, Dangote revealed that top engineering graduates would be offered automatic employment across his business empire, particularly at the 650,000-barrel-per-day Dangote Refinery and the company’s cement and fertilizer plants.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, who chaired the event, described the donation as “transformational” and encouraged other wealthy Nigerians to emulate Dangote’s educational philanthropy. The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Musa Yakasai, announced that over 18,000 students — including 19 first-class graduates — were being honored at the ceremony. ADUSTECH has expanded dramatically in recent years, growing from 88 students to nearly 22,000 across diverse disciplines. Dangote said the goal is to make the university a center for innovation-driven development and a key player in addressing Nigeria’s industrial and technological challenges.
