APC CHIEFTAIN BACKS OKPEBHOLO’S ANTI-CULTISM CRUSADE, URGES EDO RESIDENTS TO SUPPORT CLEAN-UP
The South South Zonal Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Blessing Agbomhere Esq., has commended Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo for what he called a bold and courageous fight against cultism and criminality across the state.
In a statement issued from Abuja, Agbomhere described cult-related violence as a “recurring embarrassment” to the people of Edo and expressed confidence in Okpebholo’s resolve to eradicate it.
“Cult clashes have taken countless lives and destabilized our communities,” Agbomhere said. “Governor Okpebholo’s administration has shown leadership and commitment to law and order, and we must all support this effort.”
Referencing a 2021 BBC documentary that portrayed Edo as Nigeria’s epicenter of cult-related killings, Agbomhere emphasized that cultism in the state had morphed into a front for armed robbery, cyber fraud, and human trafficking.
He called on Edo citizens, regardless of religion, to monitor their children and reject the normalization of cult groups in society. “This is a wake-up call to parents, guardians, and communities to protect our youth,” he said.
