IMASUEN SEEKS HEALTH, EDUCATION REFORMS, RAISES ALARM ON VIOLENCE IN EDO SOUTH

Senator Neda Imasuen, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, has called for sweeping reforms in Nigeria’s health and education sectors and expressed grave concern over renewed violence in parts of Edo South.
Speaking in Abuja, the senator announced his sponsorship of the Federal Medical Centre Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025, aimed at improving service delivery, access to care, and operational efficiency of federal hospitals—especially in underserved communities.
Senator Imasuen also highlighted his Federal College of Education, Abudu (Establishment) Bill, 2024, which seeks to address the shortage of qualified teachers and promote education in Edo State.
On security, he decried violent attacks in Columbo Camp, Maridoti Gbelamoten, and Siluko Ward in Ovia, which he said had led to deaths, displacement, and disrupted farming.
He called on the federal government to bolster security in affected areas, investigate the causes of violence, and implement long-term safety plans.
