BAUCHI ASSEMBLY PASSES N174 BILLION LGA BUDGET

The Bauchi State House of Assembly on Thursday approved a consolidated 2025 budget totaling N174.02 billion for the state’s 20 local government councils. Recurrent spending accounts for N110.08 billion, while N64.03 billion is allocated for capital projects. The Joint House Committee on Appropriation and Local Government Affairs, which presented the report, urged quarterly training for budget officers and emphasized improving IGR mechanisms and financial accountability frameworks.
During the session, Ganjuwa East representative Hon. Dayyabu Ladan Mohammed called for the creation of a new district under the Bauchi Emirate Council. He argued that despite its historical prominence, Ganjuwa East remains the only constituency in the state without a recognized district.
Meanwhile, Builder Sa’idu Sulaiman Darazo of Darazo Constituency raised an urgent motion regarding a windstorm that destroyed over 50 homes in Unguwar Gabas. He appealed for immediate intervention and relief from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA). The House passed resolutions mandating executive follow-up on both issues.
