FG DELEGATION, DIGNITARIES HONOUR AMINU DANTATA IN MADINAH BURIAL

In a solemn show of national respect, a high-level delegation from the Federal Government of Nigeria, joined by family members and prominent dignitaries, gathered in the Islamic holy city of Madinah, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday to bid farewell to Alhaji Aminu Dantata, the iconic business tycoon and elder statesman who passed away at the age of 94.
The delegation was led by Minister of Defence and former Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, and included top-ranking officials such as Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi; Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris; Minister of State for Housing, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata; and senior security representatives. They were joined by clerics like Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar and Sheikh Aminu Daurawa.
Alhaji Dantata, who died in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, was buried at the revered Al-Baqi Cemetery in Madinah after funeral prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque, in accordance with his wishes. His body arrived on Tuesday morning alongside his son, Alhaji Tajudeen Dantata, and nephew, billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote.
The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, and Emir Aminu Ado Bayero were present at the Jana’iza, alongside Governors Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano) and Umar Namadi (Jigawa), and Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau. The Senate also postponed its scheduled constitutional review hearing for the North-West zone as a mark of respect.
Alhaji Aminu Dantata was widely regarded as a pillar of commerce and philanthropy, and his burial in one of Islam’s holiest sites reflects the reverence he commanded both in life and death. Hundreds attended the prayer service to honor his legacy and pray for the repose of his soul.
