AKWA IBOM STUDENT RECEIVES N1M, LAPTOP AT RHI NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP EVENT

The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has accompanied the state’s beneficiary of the Renewed Hope Initiative National Scholarship Programme (RHI-NASP) to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where scholarships were presented to 47 students across the country.

The event, hosted by Nigeria’s First Lady and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, featured the third tranche of awards under the RHI-NASP scheme.

Akwa Ibom’s beneficiary, Favour Okon, a 300-level Performing Arts student, received a laptop and ₦1 million to support his education. He was accompanied by Lady Obareki and the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ubong Umoh.

Senator Tinubu emphasized that the scheme was not just about financial aid but also about inspiring academic excellence and instilling hope in Nigerian youths. The event also featured a mid-term assessment of the programme and an interactive session between RHI board members and beneficiaries.

Also present was Mrs. Esitmbom Ekperikpe, wife of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), who joined in commending the initiative.

Lady Obareki described the programme as a testament to the First Lady’s passion for education, noting that Akwa Ibom State will continue to key into national initiatives that uplift young people and secure their future.
