AKWA IBOM FIRST LADY’S OFFICE PARTNERS ROTARY INTERNATIONAL TO DELIVER HUMANITARIAN SERVICES

The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has announced a strategic partnership with Rotary International, District 9142, to deliver humanitarian services to vulnerable groups across the state.

Lady Obareki made this known on Monday, September 8, 2025, while receiving the District Governor, Rotarian Kelechi Anyanwu, and other Rotarians in Government House, Uyo. She explained that the collaboration aligns with the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), the First Lady’s flagship project, which focuses on literacy, learning, and social empowerment.

Highlighting upcoming projects, Lady Obareki revealed that GIFA would soon roll out a back-to-school programme designed to provide schoolchildren with essential learning materials. She stressed that the partnership with Rotary would ensure greater impact, noting: “What you do aligns with what we do, so you are supporting us and we are supporting you. The bottom line of all of these is to bring greater good and impact to the lives of the less privileged.”

In his remarks, District Governor Anyanwu said Rotary’s 2025 theme, “Unite for Good,” emphasizes collaboration with government and civil society to improve basic education, maternal and child care, and the provision of starter packs for vulnerable persons. He reiterated Rotary’s readiness to invest in community-driven projects that bring sustainable change.

The session also featured goodwill remarks from Assistant Governor, Zone 9, Rotarian Onoriode Obareki, who commended Lady Obareki’s dedication to balancing family, work, and service to society. Other Rotary leaders, including District Governor Nominee Adesegun Tijani, President Patricia Obot, and President Amanam Hanson, praised GIFA’s efforts in poverty alleviation and pledged support for joint initiatives.

Rotary International, with over 1.4 million members worldwide, is renowned for its humanitarian interventions, making this partnership a significant step in delivering grassroots impact in Akwa Ibom State.
