NSCDC MEDIATES 38 DISPUTES, PROMOTES PEACE IN FCT

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory Command, has disclosed that it has mediated 38 disputes so far in 2025 in Abuja, helping to strengthen peace and reduce conflict in the capital. The announcement was made during a walk for peace to mark the 2025 International Day of Peace.

Under the leadership of FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the Corps deployed four certified mediators and utilized its Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit across the six Area Councils in FCT to address a variety of conflict types. These include land disagreements, family disputes, contract breaches, farmers-herders clashes, and inter-communal clashes.

The peace walk started from NSCDC headquarters in Wuse Zone 5 and passed through Wuse Market, Berger Roundabout, and other major points, with the corps promoting messages of unity, non-violence and respect for differences. Dr. Odumosu called on residents to embrace mediation rather than confrontation, stressing that peace is not merely absence of violence but the presence of justice, dialogue, and respect for human dignity.
