The Chapel of Methodist Boys’ High School, Oron, was filled with excitement and gratitude on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, as 500 students received back-to-school packs from the Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki.
The gesture was in fulfillment of a promise Lady Obareki made during her visit to the school earlier in the year for the 2025 International Day of the Boy Child, themed “Stand Up, Be Heard and Be Seen.” The distribution was overseen by aides from the Office of the First Lady, led by the Press Secretary, Mrs. Uduak Ekong, and warmly received by the school’s Principal, Mr. Effiong Ima.
As part of the event, students participated in a lively question-and-answer session where prizes were awarded to those who answered correctly. The initiative, which combined empowerment with learning, was lauded by teachers and students alike, who described it as timely support that would ease the financial burden of many families as schools resume.
