Nigerian Afropop star Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold, has been honoured with a street in Lagos officially named after him. The unveiling ceremony took place on October 6, 2025, with the presence of his wife, fellow singer Simi, and their daughter, Deja.
The new “Adekunle Kosoko Street” is located on Lagos Island, a community where the singer spent much of his early life. Speaking during the unveiling, Adekunle Gold described the gesture as “a dream come true,” noting that having a part of the city bear his name was a sign of recognition for his contributions to Nigerian music and culture. He said: “This city raised me, and now it carries my name. This is truly a blessing.”
Fans and residents trooped out to witness the ceremony, with many expressing admiration for the artiste who rose from humble beginnings to international stardom. The street naming also coincided with the release of Adekunle Gold’s latest album, Fuji, which has further cemented his reputation as a creative force pushing Nigerian music to the global stage. The honour places him among a small list of entertainers who have been celebrated with such recognition during their lifetime.
