SSG Enobong Uwah takes over Akadep, Pledges to drive Tree Crop Revolution

The Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, has assumed oversight of the Akwa Ibom Agricultural Development Programme (AKADEP) following a directive from Governor Umo Eno aimed at strengthening agricultural coordination and advancing the administration’s Tree Crop Revolution initiative.

The realignment places AKADEP directly under the supervision of the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), enhancing synergy between state institutions and ensuring faster delivery of agricultural reforms under the ARISE Agenda.

At a strategic meeting held at Government House, Uyo, Prince Uwah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving the Governor’s targets on agricultural transformation, pledging full support to ensure timely and efficient execution.

“The Governor has given a clear directive to achieve visible results under the Tree Crop Revolution, and we are determined to meet that target,” Uwah said.

“With AKADEP now under the SSG’s Office, we will ensure faster coordination, better results, and greater accountability.”

Speaking at the session, Professor Trenchard Ibia, Chairman of the State Committee on Agriculture and Food Security, praised Governor Eno’s leadership, noting the rapid rehabilitation of the AKADEP headquarters as a sign of seriousness in implementing agricultural reforms.

He expressed optimism that the initiative will create generational wealth, boost food security, and improve rural livelihoods.

Mr. Emma Ekanem, Programme Manager of AKADEP, also briefed the SSG on the restructuring process within the agency, assuring that the team is fully aligned with the Governor’s agricultural development vision.

Following the meeting, the SSG led officials on an inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation of the AKADEP head office in Uyo, expressing satisfaction with the progress of work and reaffirming the administration’s resolve to deliver measurable and sustainable results.
