The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will from December 15 begin nationwide display of the updated voters register following the latest phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The ongoing 2025 CVR — which commenced online on August 18 and opened for physical registrations from August 25 across all 774 Local Government Areas including FCT — will revert to phase-one display status as part of the statutory process for public scrutiny.
INEC’s director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, said the display period from December 15 to 21 will allow registered citizens to verify their voter registration entries, report inaccuracies, or flag registrations of ineligible or deceased persons. This oversight step aims to ensure the register’s integrity ahead of upcoming elections.
Data from INEC indicates that by November 28, nearly 9.9 million Nigerians had pre-registered online, and over 2.5 million had fully completed registrations — including 1.5 million via online completion and about 1.07 million in-person across the country.
The display of the new register marks a key checkpoint in Nigeria’s electoral preparation and is expected to reduce incidences of multiple registrations, inaccuracies, and impersonation. Citizens are urged to follow up at their local government offices to confirm their details.
