Akwa Ibom Police warn against lawless protests over pending Court Case

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has issued a stern warning against threats of unlawful protests over the ongoing court case involving Princess God’sown Udoito. In a press release dated January 18, 2026, the command stated that the matter is already before a court of competent jurisdiction and urged the public to avoid any action that could disrupt the judicial process.

Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force conducts arrests and prosecutions strictly within the framework of the law, following due investigation and established legal procedures. He emphasized that while citizens have the constitutional right to peaceful assembly and lawful expression, any attempt to influence or intimidate the court through protests or unlawful conduct would not be tolerated.

The police command warned that actions such as nude protests, unlawful occupation of public or private facilities, disruption of government and economic activities, and any conduct that could breach public peace or morality would be met with prompt arrest and prosecution. The statement urged aggrieved persons to seek redress through legal and civil channels, rather than resorting to actions that could escalate tension in the state.

The command assured residents that it remains committed to maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and preserving the peace currently enjoyed in Akwa Ibom State.
