Army Promotes 315 Soldiers AT 34 Artillery Brigade Owerri

The 34 Artillery Brigade in Obinze, Owerri, has formally promoted 315 of its soldiers in a ceremony presided over by its commander, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mu’azu Abbas. The promotions saw personnel elevated through the ranks, from Lance Corporal to Corporal, Corporal to Sergeant, Sergeant to Staff Sergeant, and Staff Sergeant to Warrant Officer.

In his address, Brig‑Gen Abbas said the mass promotions are part of a broader mandate by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, to reward hard work, discipline, and professionalism and to bolster operational readiness, especially under the ongoing security operation in the region, Operation Udoka.

He urged the newly decorated officers to “justify this confidence” by demonstrating greater discipline, loyalty, and operational efficiency. He stressed that the promotions were not just symbolic but a strategic step toward enhancing the Brigade’s capacity to support the 82 Division’s efforts to maintain peace across the South‑East.

Senior officers who attended the ceremony included the Brigade Chief of Staff, the Garrison Commander, the CO of the 342 Artillery Regiment, and the Brigade Regimental Sergeant Major, among others, underlining the significance of the occasion to the army leadership.
