Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday met with African Democratic Congress (ADC) state chairmen from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory at his Abuja residence, shortly after his formal registration as a member of the party.
Atiku revealed the visit in a post on his X handle on Tuesday, noting that the delegation—led by Kogi State ADC Chairman, Ogga Kingsley came to officially welcome him as a “bona fide member” of the party.
Expressing satisfaction with his entry into the ADC, Atiku urged party leaders and supporters to complete their registration, stressing that the coalition cannot afford passive members in what he called a collective mission to rescue the country.
He commended the state chairmen for their commitment to national progress, insisting that they share a common goal of building a secure, united, and prosperous Nigeria. Atiku also criticised the APC, accusing the ruling party of endangering the nation and vowing that the ADC is ready to counter its actions.
The former PDP presidential candidate recently declared that “the real opposition has begun” after picking up his ADC membership card in Adamawa State—a move that ended months of speculation about his political future. His departure from the PDP in July followed what he described as irreconcilable internal differences and a departure from the party’s founding ideals.
