Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has announced that President Bola Tinubu has formally handed him over to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, as part of plans for his defection to the party.
Kefas made the disclosure during a meeting with APC youths and stakeholders at the T. Y. Danjuma House in Abuja. He stated that the President acknowledged his intention to leave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and approved the move.
In the meeting, youth leaders expressed readiness to welcome him into the APC. Comrade Abubakar Gembo, speaking afterward, affirmed that Governor Kefas had told the gathering about his conversation with Tinubu, who received him and placed him with the APC National Chairman.
Taraba State APC Youth Vanguard also confirmed that the defection process at the national level is complete and that only local and state‐level receptions remain pending.
They urged APC members in Taraba to support the governor’s inclusion, describing his leadership as youth-friendly and committed to inclusion.
Kefas, elected on the PDP ticket in 2023, said that realignment was motivated by his desire to ensure stronger collaboration between Taraba State and the federal government, particularly for development projects and federal presence.
