The Delta State Police Command has reaffirmed that its ban on fireworks, firecrackers, and other pyrotechnics remains in effect as part of measures to ensure a safe and peaceful Christmas season.
Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda, in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, said the ban covers the use, sale, and display of items such as knockouts and bangers. He noted that criminals often exploit fireworks to mask their activities, making strict enforcement necessary.
Parents and guardians were urged to warn their children against using such items, while retailers were cautioned to stop selling them. The police warned that violators will be arrested, prosecuted, and have their goods confiscated.
