Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on Thursday presented a proposed 2026 budget of N861bn to the state House of Assembly, with a strong focus on capital projects and social development.
The governor allocated N715bn (83%) to capital expenditure and N147.2bn (17%) to recurrent spending. The health and agriculture sectors received the highest allocations, each getting N87bn. Education was allotted N65bn, while public order and safety received N45bn. Environmental protection and social protection were allocated N22bn and N17bn respectively.
Lawal described the proposal as a “Budget of Stability and Growth,” saying it marks the next phase of his administration’s rescue and reform agenda. He said the budget aims to strengthen security, modernise agriculture, upgrade healthcare, and expand access to quality education.
He added that the plan would drive infrastructure renewal and empower youths, women, and vulnerable groups, ensuring inclusive development across all communities.
