Gov Eno Congratulates Mayor Ukeme Awakessien-Jeter on Reelection

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D., has congratulated Mayor Ukeme Awakessien-Jeter of Upper Arlington, Ohio, United States, on her reelection, describing her victory as a testament to leadership excellence and integrity in public service.

In a congratulatory message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno said Mayor Awakessien-Jeter’s success reflected the confidence of her constituents in her leadership and vision. He commended her for a successful first term marked by purposeful governance and community-driven initiatives, noting that all candidates who ran on her slate were also elected — a further endorsement of her administration’s performance.

Governor Eno, who described her as “a pride of Akwa Ibom and an inspiration to women in leadership,” stated that her reelection symbolizes the triumph of diligence, vision, and service above politics.

He stated that, as the Governor of the State of her ancestry, pride is taken in her political ascendancy, while assuring that Akwa Ibom State will continue to celebrate and cheer her achievements on the global stage.

Mayor Awakessien-Jeter’s reelection adds her to the growing list of Africans breaking barriers in international politics, alongside leaders such as New York City’s Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, born in Uganda, who is set to assume office in January 2026.
