Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commended the security personnel and staff of the State Government House for their unwavering commitment to duty, describing them as exemplary professionals. The governor made the remarks during a dinner and award ceremony organised by the Government House Security Department to appreciate officers and staff who have distinguished themselves in their duty posts.
Governor Eno praised his Chief Security Officer, CSP Besta Sini, for her organisation of the event, noting that it was an impressive display of creativity and professionalism. He said the idea for the ceremony came from a casual observation and was intended to create a relaxed atmosphere where the men and officers could be appreciated for their sacrifices and commitment.
The governor acknowledged that security officers are often criticised, yet they remain dedicated to their duties. He urged the security team and other staff to remain diligent despite challenges, assuring them that their hard work would be rewarded.
Governor Eno also commended the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, for his strong working relationship with officers and other security agencies, which he said has contributed to maintaining peace in the state.
During the event, Governor Eno announced the appointment of Mr Isaac Atakan as Personal Assistant on Protocol. He directed the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, to issue a formal appointment letter on Monday morning, backdated to May 29, 2023, and to calculate and pay all arrears of allowances. The governor also announced a personal award of N5 million to Mr Atakan for his selfless service over the past two years.
CSP Sini expressed appreciation for the governor’s support and pledged continued commitment to duty. CP Azare also praised the governor for his support to the Nigerian Police and other security agencies, describing Akwa Ibom as one of the most peaceful states in the country. DCP Francis Osagie Erhabor, Senior Special Assistant on Intelligence, said the recognition would strengthen loyalty and dedication among security personnel.
The award ceremony recognised over 24 officers and staff for gallantry and excellent service, including the Chief Information Officer, Mr Uwem Kerns.
