Governor Monday Okpebholo has expressed profound grief following the passing of his Special Adviser on Arewa Matters, Alhaji Sahabi Aliyu Mahuta. The Governor’s tribute, shared on Sunday, January 11, 2026, highlighted Mahuta’s role as a vital link between the state government and the northern community residing in Edo.
The Governor described Mahuta as a dedicated patriot and a gentleman whose wisdom and commitment to peaceful coexistence were instrumental in maintaining social harmony within the state. According to the administration, his death is a significant loss not only to the executive council but also to the broader quest for inclusive governance in Edo State.
