JIGAWA PENSION SCHEME DISBURSES N1.5BN TO RETIREES IN LANDMARK PAYMENT ROUND

The Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board has paid over ₦1.5 billion to 569 retirees, in what officials have described as one of the most efficient pension disbursements in the country.
At the Pension House, Civil Service head Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri hailed the scheme as a national model, noting that over twenty states have visited Jigawa to learn from its best-practice approach.
Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu, Board Executive Secretary, confirmed the total disbursement sum of ₦1,505,449,327.78. The payout covered retirees from various sectors: 287 beneficiaries from state service, 158 from local governments, and 124 from Local Education Authorities (LEAs). The sum included retirement pensions, death benefits, and pension balances.
Aminu also pledged that monthly pensions would be released in the first week of every month moving forward, reflecting the state government’s commitment to timely wage payments and enhanced worker welfare.
Governor Umar Namadi was commended for his support and resolve in strengthening the pension scheme, which has bolstered retirees’ financial security and uplifted the broader civil service community.
