Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has congratulated Amanda Azubuike on her historic promotion to Brigadier General in the United States Army.
In a statement issued by the Commission’s Media Head, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa described Azubuike’s promotion as a testament to her resilience, dedication, and exceptional service, which Nigerians across the globe should celebrate.
Born to a Nigerian father and Zimbabwean mother, Azubuike’s journey has been inspiring. After joining the U.S. Army in 1994 and completing the Army Aviation Officer Basic Course, she became an aviator and has since held key roles, including flight operations officer and public affairs officer. She currently serves as Deputy Commanding Officer at the U.S. Army Cadet Command.
Dabiri-Erewa emphasized that Azubuike’s elevation shattered barriers and highlighted the significant contributions of Nigerians in the diaspora to global development. She urged other Nigerians abroad to be inspired by Azubuike’s remarkable accomplishment.
