Business mogul and Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, has officially declared his intention to contest the Anambra State Governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025, under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at the inauguration of his campaign council in Ire Village, Ogidi, Okonkwo vowed to transform Anambra into a model of excellence and good governance if elected.
He outlined plans to address insecurity, unemployment, and economic stagnation, promising to modernize agriculture, revamp education, and empower youths through entrepreneurial training programs.
He dismissed claims of being a newcomer to the APC, noting his involvement with its predecessor parties, Action Congress and Action Congress of Nigeria.
Okonkwo also rejected zoning as a criterion for leadership in Anambra, emphasizing competence over regional considerations. He urged the people to rally behind his movement to reclaim Anambra’s greatness.
