The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Shehu Gabam, has criticised United States President Donald Trump for his comments alleging a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria, describing them as dangerous and misleading.
Gabam said Trump’s statements were an attempt to interfere in Nigeria’s internal affairs and could inflame religious tensions in the country. He warned that such rhetoric undermines national unity and portrays Nigeria unfairly before the international community.
He urged the Nigerian Government to formally protest against the comments, insisting that only Nigerians can resolve their domestic challenges. Gabam added that political leaders must act responsibly to prevent external narratives from distorting the realities on ground.
He called on Nigerians of all faiths to remain united and avoid falling victim to divisive narratives promoted by foreign interests.
