Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka has called on President Bola Tinubu to order investigations into high-profile political assassinations that have remained unresolved for decades. He highlighted the killings of journalist Dele Giwa, former Attorney General Bola Ige, and activist Kudirat Abiola as examples of cases that need urgent government attention.
Soyinka said that uncovering the truth behind these assassinations would help cleanse Nigeria’s political system and restore public trust. He also expressed dissatisfaction with omissions in the recent list of national award recipients, stating that several key figures in the June 12 pro-democracy struggle were not properly recognised.
