The family of late Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin has criticised the federal government for excluding him from the list of honourees recognised during the 2025 Democracy Day celebration. The family described the omission as a significant oversight, given Ajasin’s role as a leader of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) and a prominent figure in the June 12 struggle.
The family expressed disappointment that Ajasin, who was instrumental in opposing military rule and championing democracy, was not acknowledged alongside other activists. They called on the federal government to correct the historical record and ensure that those who made sacrifices for the country’s democratic development are duly honoured.
