SUPER FALCONS set for ABIDJAN FOUR-NATION TOURNAMENT ahead of WAFCON

Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, has departed for Abidjan to compete in the WAFU B Four-Nation Tournament, a preparatory event ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The tournament, scheduled in Côte d’Ivoire, brings together four West African national teams that have qualified for WAFCON, offering a competitive environment to sharpen tactical cohesion and match readiness. The Falcons will face off with hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Senegal as part of the mini-tournament.

Participation in the WAFU B event is a strategic move by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ensure the Super Falcons gain valuable match experience before the continent’s premier women’s championship, set to take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, 2026.

The Falcons are preparing to defend their status as one of Africa’s most successful women’s national teams, with a record of multiple WAFCON titles. Recent campaigns have reinforced Nigeria’s position as a dominant force in women’s football on the continent, and the build-up tournament is expected to help fine-tune strategy and squad selection ahead of the bigger competition.

NFF officials confirmed that details regarding the squad list and final preparations will be released in due course, allowing fans and stakeholders to track the team’s progress closely.

The WAFU B Four-Nation Tournament represents an important phase in the Super Falcons’ competitive calendar, giving the coaching staff and players an early measure of competitive strength and tactical cohesion before the continent’s marquee event.
