TINUBU TO SECURITY CHIEFS: ARREST BENUE KILLERS, FORM RECONCILIATION COMMITTEE FOR LASTING PEACE

President Bola Tinubu stormed Benue State on Wednesday June 18th, in the wake of carnage that has claimed over 200 lives, particularly in Yelwata, demanding swift arrests and a coordinated intelligence crackdown. During a high-level stakeholder meeting at the Makurdi Government House, Tinubu questioned the police over the absence of any suspects in custody. “I expect there should be an arrest of those criminals,” he told IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
Tinubu’s fury was matched by a comprehensive response plan. He tasked heads of the military and intelligence community with rooting out the perpetrators and directed Governor Hyacinth Alia to convene a reconciliation meeting among warring factions.
“We are members of the same house, just sleeping in different rooms,” Tinubu said, stressing unity across ethnic lines. He proposed the formation of a peace committee made up of past governors, traditional rulers, and key stakeholders, pledging federal support. “Benue deserves to live in peace. We are here to govern, not to bury. We are here to raise families,” he added.
The president also encouraged citizens to donate blood to victims and vowed that the tragedy must become “a turning point toward prosperity and peace.”
