In a major move to boost civil service morale, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of over 2,000 staff members across the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA). The announcement, confirmed on Monday, January 12, 2026, marks a significant step in addressing long-standing issues regarding career progression within the territory’s administrative workforce.
The promotion exercise, which follows the successful completion of the 2024 promotion examinations and performance evaluations, covers various cadres of the service. Minister Wike emphasized that the move is part of his commitment to institutional reforms aimed at enhancing productivity and ensuring that hard-working civil servants are duly rewarded. Labor unions within the FCTA have lauded the decision, noting that the prompt approval of these promotions will significantly reduce the backlog of eligible candidates and invigorate the workforce as they implement the minister’s aggressive infrastructure and urban renewal agenda for the capital.
