Eighteen emerging Nigerian music talents have secured fully funded scholarships worth more than $2 million to study at Berklee College of Music through a programme organised by the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation.
The beneficiaries, made up of singers, songwriters, producers, and other music professionals, were selected after participating in an intensive week-long training programme held in Lagos from April 22 to 26, 2026.
The initiative brought together 120 participants across various fields of music creation and performance. Conducted in partnership with Berklee College of Music, the programme featured practical workshops, mentorship sessions, and collaborative training in live performance, songwriting, music production, and the business side of the industry.
The scholarship winners were announced during a grand finale concert at the National Theatre, where finalists delivered live performances spanning Afrobeats, R&B, hip-hop, gospel, jazz, and fusion music.
The event was hosted by Darey Art Alade and Kie Kie, with guest performances from Teni and Loud Choir.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tiwa Savage described the achievement as emotional and historic, saying the foundation was established to provide world-class music education in Nigeria and empower African creatives to compete globally.
Berklee’s Dean of Admissions, Damien Bracken, praised the initiative for promoting collaboration, excellence, and long-term artistic development.
