Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Yahaya of Sokoto State has sacked four personal aides following their involvement in the assault of a local government councillor. The action underscores the administration’s stance on discipline, accountability and the rule of law, officials said.
The aides were relieved of their duties after an internal investigation found them implicated in the attack on the council official, an incident that drew public attention and raised concerns about the conduct of political appointees within the state’s government.
In a statement, the Governor reaffirmed that no one is above the law, and that those who abuse office or engage in violence will face consequences irrespective of their political connections. The sackings are part of broader efforts to restore confidence in governance and ensure that public servants conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values of respect, civility and public service.
Yahaya’s decisive action is expected to serve as a deterrent against misconduct and reinforce ethical standards across the state’s civil and political leadership.
