Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has spoken candidly about her past close friendship with fellow screen icon Genevieve Nnaji, revealing that both actresses gradually grew apart over time without any major conflict.
Henshaw made the disclosure during a recent appearance on the Tea With Tay podcast, where she reflected on their relationship and long-standing bond within the Nigerian film industry.
According to her, she and Nnaji were once very close friends who often attended events together and shared a strong personal and professional connection during the peak of their careers. However, she said communication between them slowly faded, leading to distance between both stars.
“We grew apart. We were close, we used to go to events together, and then there was that gap,” she said.
Henshaw added that she does not fully understand what led to the separation, but emphasized that she has accepted it and moved on from the situation.
“I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what came over her, but hey, I moved on,” she added.
She also noted that relationships naturally evolve over time, stressing that not every friendship is meant to last forever. According to her, people come into one’s life for different reasons and seasons, and each plays a role in personal growth.
Henshaw’s remarks echo earlier comments she made in 2023, when she first hinted that their relationship had become strained, while clarifying that there were no serious disagreements between them.
Meanwhile, Genevieve Nnaji, one of Nollywood’s most respected actresses, has maintained a low public profile in recent years, limiting her appearances and social media activity.
In 2022, she deactivated her Instagram posts and unfollowed all accounts, sparking widespread public speculation about her wellbeing, although she later shared reflections on mental health without directly addressing the rumours.
Industry observers say the comments from Henshaw highlight how personal relationships in the entertainment industry can evolve quietly over time, even among long-time colleagues and friends.
