The Emir of Gombe, Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, has called on farmers across Gombe State to return fully to their farms as the rainy season begins, urging increased agricultural activity to boost food production and strengthen the local economy.
Speaking during a Sallah Durbar event in Gombe, the emir encouraged young people to engage in productive ventures and avoid social vices that could undermine peace and development in the state.
He also reaffirmed the traditional institution’s support for Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration, expressing confidence in its development agenda for the state.
The emir commended the creation of Local Council Development Areas, describing the policy as a step toward bringing governance closer to rural communities.
He further urged Muslims to reflect on the values of Eid-el-Kabir, including sacrifice, obedience and patience, while praying for peace and stability in the country.
Governor Yahaya, who attended the colourful Durbar at the Emir’s palace, led top government officials, political leaders and dignitaries to mark the celebration.
The traditional event featured horse riders, district heads and title holders paying homage in a display of cultural heritage, unity and loyalty within the Gombe Emirate.
