APC STATE CHAIRMEN URGE MEMBERS TO REGISTER AND COLLECT VOTER CARDS AHEAD OF FUTURE ELECTIONS

Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory have called on party members and eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of future elections.

The appeal was made at the end of the inaugural meeting of the Forum of APC State Chairmen held in Abuja. The gathering marked the first official meeting of the newly elected state party leaders following the party’s congresses conducted earlier this year.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the Chairman of the Forum and Lagos State APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, emphasized the importance of voter registration and participation in the democratic process. He urged party supporters who have not yet registered, as well as those who need to update their voter information, to utilize the remaining period of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

According to the forum, obtaining a Permanent Voter Card remains one of the most important responsibilities of citizens in a democracy, as it provides the opportunity to participate in elections and influence leadership choices at all levels of government.

The state chairmen also used the meeting to congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. They expressed confidence in the party’s preparations ahead of future electoral contests and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the APC’s grassroots structures across the country.

The forum further commended the National Working Committee of the party for what it described as the successful and peaceful conduct of recent party primaries. Members noted that internal cohesion and effective party organization would be crucial as preparations continue for future campaigns and elections.

On national security, the APC state chairmen expressed sympathy to victims of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of violence affecting communities across Nigeria. They also extended condolences to families who have lost loved ones as a result of insecurity.

The forum praised ongoing efforts by the Federal Government and security agencies to address the country’s security challenges, while expressing hope that current strategies and reforms would lead to improved safety and stability nationwide.

The meeting also acknowledged the contributions of the Progressive Governors Forum, commending state governors elected on the APC platform for their continued support of the party and implementation of development programmes within their respective states.

Political analysts say the call for increased voter registration reflects growing efforts by political parties to mobilize supporters ahead of future elections. They note that voter registration exercises often play a significant role in shaping electoral participation and determining the strength of political parties at the grassroots level.

As the Continuous Voter Registration exercise progresses, electoral stakeholders continue to encourage eligible citizens across the country to register, update their records where necessary, and collect their Permanent Voter Cards to ensure full participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.

The renewed voter mobilization campaign comes as political activities gradually intensify across the country, with parties already positioning themselves for upcoming electoral contests and seeking to expand their support base among Nigeria’s growing voting population.
