Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has appealed to United States President Donald Trump and the international community to closely monitor the forthcoming Osun State governorship election amid concerns over possible violence and political intimidation.
Davido made the appeal in a post on X, drawing international attention to the situation in Osun as preparations for the election intensify.
Addressing Trump directly, the singer urged the US president to pay attention to developments in the state.
“President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election,” Davido wrote.
Davido raises alarm over possible violence
The music star said there were growing concerns about tension in the state and the possibility of violence, intimidation and disruption of the electoral process.
He stressed that residents should be able to participate in the election without fear.
According to Davido, voters in Osun deserve to exercise their constitutional rights freely and peacefully.
“Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear,” he said.
Singer seeks international attention
Davido also called on the United States and other members of the international community to closely follow the election and encourage Nigerian authorities to protect voters.
He urged relevant institutions to ensure that citizens are able to cast their ballots without intimidation and that their votes are respected.
“I appeal to the United States and the international community to pay close attention to the election and encourage all relevant authorities to ensure that every voter is protected and every vote is respected,” he said.
The singer’s intervention comes amid heightened political activity surrounding the Osun election, with concerns over security and the credibility of the electoral process attracting increased public attention.

Davido concluded his appeal by calling for a peaceful and transparent election.
“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” he said.
