Trump Reveals Secret Plane Switch Over Possible Iranian Attack

US President Donald Trump has acknowledged that the American military secretly moved him to a different aircraft during his return from Turkey, amid concerns over a possible Iranian attack.

The revelation came after reports emerged that Trump had been discreetly transferred from Air Force One to another military aircraft during his journey back from the NATO summit.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said the decision was made by the US military and Secret Service, adding that he followed their instructions because of a potential security threat.

“I go by the Secret Service and the military. They wanted me to go on a different flight, a different plane. I just have to do what they say.”

Trump said he was told there was a threat but claimed he did not ask for further details.

“I guess there was a threat out there. I didn’t really ask too much about it. Any consequential president has a lot of threats,” he said.

Trump reportedly moved without press knowing

Reports by US media indicated that Trump secretly switched from the presidential Air Force One to an alternate military aircraft identified as an Air Force C-32A.

The incident reportedly occurred in Ankara, Turkey, during Trump’s return journey following the NATO summit.

Trump had arrived in Turkey aboard a Boeing 747-8 aircraft previously donated by Qatar, but concerns had already been raised about the security of the aircraft.

Hours before his departure on July 8, Trump announced that he would return to the United States aboard the older Air Force One rather than the Qatari-provided aircraft.

Press footage reportedly showed Trump boarding the older presidential jet.

However, several minutes later, the catering truck reportedly left the aircraft and moved toward another military plane, amid the secret change in Trump’s travel arrangements.

Press reportedly kept in the dark

According to reports, Trump flew from Ankara to a refuelling stop in the United Kingdom aboard the C-32A while journalists and some White House officials travelling on Air Force One were unaware that the president was on another aircraft.

Those aboard Air Force One were reportedly instructed to keep their window shades closed during the journey, an unusual security measure.

Trump later reboarded the older Air Force One after arriving in the UK and was seen leaving the aircraft at RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk.

The exact circumstances of how he transferred between the two aircraft remain unclear.

He subsequently boarded the newer Qatari-donated aircraft for the final leg of his journey to Washington.

Iranian threat cited

The secret aircraft switch reportedly took place shortly after the United States began a prolonged military campaign against Iran.

Trump also said during the NATO summit that he believed he was Iran’s “number one target.”

The situation comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, with concerns over possible retaliation following US and Israeli military operations against Iran.

Trump later referenced the threat when asked why journalists had been instructed to keep their window shades down during the flight from Turkey, saying the precautions were necessary because of the dangerous situation.

The White House and US security agencies have not publicly disclosed the specific intelligence that prompted the aircraft switch.

The episode has nevertheless highlighted the extraordinary security measures taken around the US president as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.
