Ondo Police Arrest 27-Year-Old Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of 15-Year-Old Girl

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, identified as Solomon Onaola, following an allegation of sexual abuse involving a 15-year-old girl in Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

The police said the case was initially reported at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station before being transferred to the Gender-Based Offences Unit for further investigation.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed the development in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the police, the girl’s guardian reported the incident on August 2, 2026, prompting officers to begin an investigation.

Preliminary findings indicated that the teenager, who worked as a domestic helper, had reportedly left her residence without permission on several occasions.

The police said that when questioned about her movements, the girl allegedly told investigators that Onaola had been taking her to his late mother’s residence in Omifon, where the alleged offences occurred.

Following the report, police operatives arrested Onaola as investigations continued.

Victim placed under appropriate care

The Police Command said the teenager has been placed under appropriate care while established procedures for handling alleged sexual offences involving minors are being followed.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed the Gender-Based Offences Unit to conduct a thorough and professional investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the allegation.

The commissioner also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable persons from sexual exploitation, abuse and violence.

The police urged parents, guardians and members of the public to remain vigilant and pay close attention to the welfare, safety and activities of children under their care.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue, and the allegation has yet to be determined by a court.
