To decongest Itam Market and enhance commercial activities, the Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA) has begun plans for the Itam International Market at Ikot Ekwere Itam.
The UCCDA Chairman, Hon. Anietie Eka, led an inspection team to assess the 10-acre site, which already boasts over 100 open shades and lock-up shops built to international standards.

•Leaders of Itu LGA
They commended Governor Umo Eno for awarding the Ikot Ekwere Itam Road construction project, which will facilitate the relocation of Itam Market.Hon. Anietie Eka expressed confidence that the governor would ensure the facility is fully utilized to position Akwa Ibom as a thriving business hub.“The time has come for Akwa Ibom to be counted among states with internationally recognized markets,” Eka declared.The project aligns with the governor’s ₦2 billion traders’ grant and broader economic development agenda.
