ACTRESS TINA MBA URGES COLLEAGUES TO GUARD THEIR CAREERS IN MARRIAGE

Nollywood veteran Tina Mba has offered firm advice to women in the entertainment industry, urging them not to sacrifice their careers at the altar of marriage. Speaking during a revealing interview on the show Lights, Camara – It’s My Turn, Mba explained how many women fall into the trap of compromising their professional ambitions to appease partners who feel threatened by their success or fame.
Mba, known for her no-nonsense demeanor and award-winning performances, said: “He met you an actor, he married you an actor… Then you got married thinking that now you are going to fly, and then the man comes and tells you, ‘No, you’re going to sit.’” She emphasized the importance of reading the signs early in a relationship and having honest discussions about expectations. According to her, love should never mean losing one’s identity or career. She recommended that actors consider legal agreements or understandings before marriage, especially when they suspect potential conflict.
Her remarks have stirred debate within the Nollywood community, with many supporting her position and others noting that balancing career and family remains a major challenge, especially for women. Mba ended with a reassuring message: “There are so many people in this world. If this didn’t work, another may work. You will meet a soulmate. Just be true to yourself.”
