KENNETH OKONKWO ACCUSES PETER OBI OF POLITICAL BETRAYAL

Former Labour Party spokesman and Nollywood actor Kenneth Okonkwo has accused 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi of betraying the party’s reformist ideals and lacking the leadership to build a viable political structure. Okonkwo said Obi failed to consolidate on the gains of the 2023 presidential election and aligned himself with factions allegedly compromised by ties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He claimed Obi’s refusal to heed internal warnings and engage constructively with party stakeholders had eroded trust and momentum. Okonkwo, who left the Labour Party in 2024, criticised Obi’s leadership style, describing it as lacking direction and political strategy. He maintained that the internal crisis and poor coordination within the party were signs of a broader failure to build on electoral successes.
