The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its resolve to promote the inclusion and empowerment of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), restating that every citizen deserves an equal chance to participate in governance and economic growth.
Speaking during the commemoration of Disability Inclusion Week in Benin City, Commissioner for Social Development and Gender Issues, Hon. Christabel Omoh Ekwu, emphasized that the Obaseki administration remains consistent in implementing inclusive policies across education, health, employment, and infrastructure development.
She said the government’s sustained partnership with local and international development agencies has enabled the state to provide skill acquisition programs, inclusive schools, and accessibility features in public buildings. “We are building an Edo where no one is left behind,” she said.
Ekwu added that the ministry will continue to sensitize communities on the rights and potentials of persons with disabilities while empowering families and caregivers with the resources to provide adequate support.
