Edo Govt reaffirms commitment to Moral, Spiritual Development at Qur’anic Competition Finale

At the grand finale of the 2025 Edo State Qur’anic Recitation Competition (Musaabaqah), held at Otaru Palace in Auchi (Edo North Senatorial District), the state government reaffirmed its dedication to advancing moral, spiritual and cultural development across the region.

Acting on behalf of Governor Monday Okpebholo, the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., congratulated the organisers for their efforts in nurturing young Qur’anic scholars and promoting Islamic education in the state. He commended the royal sponsor of the competition, HRH Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh (Ikelebe III), Otaru of Auchi, for sustaining the programme and emphasised that the state administration would continue supporting initiatives that “foster spiritual growth, peace, unity and social harmony.”

Ikhilor stated: “This administration remains committed to supporting initiatives that foster spiritual and moral growth among Edo people, irrespective of faith or background.” He encouraged participants to represent the state with dignity at the upcoming national Qur’anic competition in Maiduguri, Borno State, and announced that ten contestants from Edo would undergo a one-month intensive training camp in preparation.

The event brought together Muslim scholars, traditional rulers, government officials and faithful from across the state. The Oghieaga of Ivbie, HRH Mallam Ali D. Sulayman, praised the competition as an instrument of moral reawakening and urged continued prayers for the governor and SSG for strong governance.

By emphasising support for religious and cultural education, the administration in Edo State signals its broader commitment to inclusive development and holistic human capacity building across spiritual and intellectual domains.
