A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kehinde Bankole, has advised President Bola Tinubu not to be distracted by former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent threat of military action against Nigeria.
Speaking in Lagos, Bankole said the President had made significant progress in two years and should remain focused on consolidating economic and security reforms.
“Nigeria’s challenges cannot be solved by intimidation or external interference,” he said. “We must come together as citizens to defend our country and support its leadership.”
Bankole criticised Nigeria’s political class for neglecting institutional development, citing the poor state of infrastructure, power supply, and insecurity.
He further invoked the United Nations Charter, quoting Articles 2(1), 2(4), and 2(7), which affirm the principles of sovereignty, non-interference, and the prohibition of force among member states.
“Nigeria is a sovereign nation and must be treated with dignity under international law,” Bankole asserted.
