Defence information directorate appoints new spokesman, commits to open-door policyThe Nigerian Armed Forces’ Directorate of Defence Information (DDI) has announced the appointment of Brigadier General Samaila Uba as its new Director. At a formal ceremony in Abuja, Brig-Gen Uba pledged to steer the DDI with a renewed focus on professionalism, transparent communication, digital innovation and unity across the Army, Navy and Air Force.
In his remarks, he cited the maxim “perpetual optimism is a force multiplier” and committed to synchronising messaging among the services, enhancing media relations and deploying modern communications technology. The appointment comes amid increased scrutiny of Nigeria’s defence operations and public information strategy. Military watchers say the open-door policy signals an attempt to rebuild trust with citizens and manage narratives around operations, logistics and security reform.
